Our level of interconnectedness has increased. People are increasingly confronted by complexity and are finding it difficult to cope with. The more interconnectedness there is, the more difficult it becomes to calculate the impact of decisions. The central expectation people have of conventions is that they will help them handle this complexity. Convention delegates want to be able to have an exchange and thus gain some orientation. "There is no change without learning and no learning without change. Without learning sustainable change is not possible," says Professor Peter Kruse in this interview with the KWARTAALTIJDSCHRIFT on Human Resource Development. Being trained as a neuroscientist for Kruse it's obvious to compare the way companies are working and learning with the way the human brain is functioning. He and his team at nextpractice are focused on developing research tools which allow companies and institutions to benefit from the collective intelligence.

A company's success is increasingly dependent on its ability to change and the speed with which it can do so. Employee support for the changes to be implemented is crucial. Another critical factor for success is ensuring that company staff is still on the right path.
Only by making the current status of a change process transparent in which executive managers and employees are involved and affected, is it possible to act in a targeted and balanced way.
The "nextexpertizer" measurement and analysis procedure, currently being piloted by the headquarters' Development Strategy and Corporate Culture (DSC) unit is a virtual seismograph for change processes.
